I am knitting up the smaller blanket with heavier yarn for a larger size with a seed stitch border and a seed stitch panel between the trees for ease of knitting :) 10 sts seed sts left and right and 12 rows top and bottom.
The yarn is darker than I had expected, but think that’s Ok. It is a good color to camouflage tea stains. I did want a neutral color, because that will match with anything.
Quick and easy knit.
7.16.. I finished half my yarn ( three skeins) and realize that I need more. I am waiting for the additional yarn in case it is a different dye lot ( very likely). In which case I will use the additional yarn in the middle and then finish with the three skein of the same dye lot with which I started.
7.25.. Got the additional yarn today and yeah, it’s the same dye lot. I am putting the two hitchhikers on the back burners as my summer knitting during vacations next month and going back to this blanket.
Here is my plan:
- 12 rows seed stitch ( border)
- 50 rows tree motif (62 total)
- 12 rows seed stitch (74)
- 4 rows st st (78)
- 6 rows garter (84)
- 4 rows st st (88)
- 36 rows flower garden (124)
- 4 rows st st (128)
- 6 rows garter (134)
- 4 rows st st (138)
- 12 rows seed stitch (150)
- 50 rows tree motif (200)
- 12 rows seed st (212)
All in all this is an easy project and fun to see the different motifs emerge. I probably had the most difficulty with getting the tension right on the long loop leaves for the flowers.
8.27. Didn’t work on it for almost three weeks during family vacation ; just too much to lug around, but picked it up again tonight and it should be done within a couple of days.
8.30.. Finished
