Still had yarn left after making the hat and mittens and asked my son if he prefers a scarf or cowl.
Luckily he prefers a cowl after the motto “ easier to use and harder to loose”.
I am making a simple brioche cowl with the added challenge of
1) Doing a two color cast on as in the YouTube video by Suzanne Bryan
https://youtu.be/WNnNKam5xSY
AND
2) Working the Brioche two-handed in one pass as taught by the Sockmatician in this YouTube video:
https://youtu.be/y_dKbE7SL68
It took me two attempts as I got my cast on twisted on the first attempt. It seemed better using double pointed needles for the cast on and first row, then switch to a circular needle.
Someone in my knitting group had mentioned this way of working the two color brioche and I do love to learn new things and new ways.
I imagine the two yarns to be mates having some fun….both come to the front and burp, both go over the top and bark…
My little chant:“ Two mates, Yellow and Blue, come both to the front, and Yellow burps. They both jump over the top to the back and Blue sneaks under Yellow and barks .”
9.1. I was rather bamboozeled and couldn’t wrap my head around how to work the Italian bind off with all of these yarn overs. I contacted Nathan aka the Sockmatician and he got back to me within hours. He pointed me to one of his YouTube videos:

I am so very much obliged.
For this I do my regular Kitchener Stitch chant:
On knits: knit ( off), Purl.
On purls: Purl ( off), knit.
My main confusion was how to deal with the yarn overs on the purls and the answer was: you Purl them away during a set up round.
The video is worthwhile watching.
This whole project has been quite a learning experience.
