The yarn was sold to me as sock yarn weight. It is a little heavier, but is so soft and looks like it’s going to have a good stitch definition that I want to go for it and use it for this pattern. Since I am not planning to wear these with shoes, but just around the house or as bed socks, I think it will be all right.
August 17: Finally cast this on which is just as well since I received an updated version of the pattern today.
I like how the increases at the toes are done by Yo’s ; you get lace right from the start. And yes, I said toes ( plural), because I am making these two at a time.
The stitches left and right of the center lace motif are reminiscent of the stitch used in the Autumn Bandana cowl, they snake like a vine.
I was very tempted to work my regular go-to FLK heel, but then followed the pattern and quite enjoyed doing something different.
I did find it useful to watch this video on the Fleegle heel to adjust the numbers to my gauge.
Fleegle Heel construction
I like how the lace stitches flow into the cuff ribbing.
September 11: Finished and not going to block these as they fit so perfectly now. They will be washed soon enough.
From my post on my Facebook Page:
Good morning everyone, as we commemorate 9/11, and are still going through the pandemic, we need things to lift our mood. Here is my very small contribution: I finished my ankle socks this morning and as I finished, I felt calm and when I finished, I felt joy.
I wish you a day of reflection and joy or at least hope, for if we give up hope we loose the battle and all is lost. Pick up your needles or take a walk in nature or call a friend today and feel a glimmer of hope for our future.
The pattern for these socks is called “ mile forward”, let us go forward together one step at a time.
