Color A: 7904, Mood Ring
Color B: 717, Lemon Gradient
January 14: Got the second skein of yarn yesterday ( was in quarantine before now) and started right away.
I like the darker but bright multi color; it really pops next to the yellow.
Finished Part 1 this morning and it’s coming along nicely.
January 15: So nice to get the next part immediately after showing proof of having completed the previous part. Printed out both directions for rectangle and triangle in Case we loose power; Internet connection is unstable with high winds and sub-freezing temperatures as Winterstorm Izzy is coming through this weekend.
Big decision: I couldn’t decide which one to knit up. I like the look of the triangle pattern, but think I would wear the rectangle more often. Hubby helped with the decision pointing out that I would probably wear the one I like better more often, so, decision is made and I will go for the triangular shawl. It reminds me of the butterfly shawl I kept wanting to knit for ages, so it’s several birds with one stone.
January 17: This is hard to put down. Got up early and before 7 am, while snowstorm Izzy was doing its thing outside, I finished step 6 ( slip stitch panel) of part 2.
The solid color goes through a wide array of lemon. For a while in Part 2 it was almost white for quite a while, then in part 3 it starts looking almost psychedelic with the bright yellow, almost neon green, but just as I think it’s too much, the color relaxes back into pale yellow and whiteish.
Thoughts about the bind off. I like an i-cord bind off, but am wondering how it will look as it goes around the point of the triangle. Perhaps I am overthinking this and since the lines are rounded in the design , it will look fine to have a more rounded point OR I may do a double center decrease when I get to the center spine. In any case I will work a M1L and M1R in the bind off row.
January 22: Finished up to the bind off which I will do tomorrow, then off onto the blocking mat. Can’t wait to show this one off. I have several tops this will go with perfectly; I will make sure to take lots of pictures.
January 23: Time to bind off and block. Because I know I knit my I-cord rather tight, I went up one needle size to US# 9 for the bind off to give it more stretch. I ended up not doing anything fancy on the triangle point other than M1L and M1R. The rounded tip looks nice and is in harmony with all the wavy lines
Dimension before blocking: 47” x19”
Dimensions after blocking: 58” x 25”
The I cord edging makes it easy to put the blocking wires through and get nice straight edges.
Monday, January 24: Hubby took some pictures in our backyard. Originally I was going to go down to the river as a nice backdrop, but it was just so cold
There just may be more pictures ( as if 18 aren’t enough ).
And then the sun came out and we went down to the river to take more pictures.
I love how this shawl goes well with many of my tops.
I am wearing it with my Boyfriend Sweater in the pictures by the river.
