Notes

Since baby will be born in Fall and the romper I knitted leaves the little legs bare, I thought a pair of long pants are in order grin
The Hawthorne is left from a previous project, a hat for a grandniece. https://www.ravelry.com/projects/Strickliese/neon-ski-bonnet
And the Huntington Yarn is left from the Oszilla shawl I had knitted earlier this year for my girlfriend.

I was about to do the provisional cast on using the cheater hack by twice sheared sheep, but then -since I have an extra needle size #1- I decided on using Judy’s magic cast on just like for toe up socks..

Next time make one of these ( I am planning on making one in size 12 to 18 months), I am considering to work one purl row after 1.75“ to mark the row to fold the waist band in half, even counting rows to make sure its correct placement.
The waist band seems tiny, but I hope it will block out to the schematic measurements.
I wove in the yarn ends inside the waist band before closing it up with the three needle joint.

Ready for the short rows and a bit disappointed that the instructions call for w&t rather than German short rows.
Easy enough to do the German short row technique instead, but was just surprised, since this pattern is specifically mentioned to use the German short row method. woman-shrugging

Done with the short rows and on to the increases for the crotch which I work M1L,…M1R.

09-05-2024

Working the two legs at the same time, much as I do with two at a time socks.
I clip a marker on the decrease round to keep count not only on the number of rounds in between, but also the number decrease rounds. For the size I am making, once I see nine markers, I finished the decreases and should be left with 32 sts for each leg.

When transitioning to the CC for the ankle cuffs, I knit the first round before starting the 1x1 ribbing and I use the jogless stripe method of picking up the stitch below the first stitch and knitting it together with the first stitch in the second cc round.

09-07-2024

Bound off the cuffs using Judy‘s stretchy bind off.
Started on the I-cord.

09-08-2024

I am thinking a 30 inch drawstring will be long enough for the smallest size ( with the waist being 2 inches less than the largest size).
So far I have 5 1/2 inches; so, ways to go.

I-cord is taking forever joy
But then, before I knew, it was 32 inches long.
