Nice project to use up different yarns without cutting, carrying or joining, but using the helix/ spiral method.
I worked it as per pattern, just dropping one yarn then starting with the next. There is a good video on YouTube: Helix knitting

This kind of knitting is called GumGum in German knitting technology
