Notes

I started out with 7 skeins of this yarn knowing that I wouldn’t have enough because that was all my LYS had in this colour.

I made the size 40 and even though it looks large laid flat, it drapes beautifully and is so cozy which is what I wanted for this pattern.

Knit in one piece flat to underarms. Knit sleeves. Placed 4 st - 2 on either side of side seams of body and 2 either sude of marker in sleeves on hold. Knit body and sleeves together. Did raglan decreases every other row until only collar stitches remained. Knit each side of collar separately until it would lay flat on neck before using kitchener stitch together. Sew neck together and pockets. Weave in ends abd voila!

I cast on 179 st (49 + 81 + 49) with 6.00mm circular needles using alternate cast on. I worked 1 setup row (RS) k1, P1 rib to end before starting wickerwork pattern for front bands. I switched to 7:00mm needles on Row 6. I worked my decreases on Row 7 (45 + 64 + 45).

For the sleeves, I cast on 30 st with alternate cast on using 5:00mm dpn’s (I didn’t have 6:00mm dpn’s). 1x1 rib in the round for 6 rows. Switched to 7:00mm circs, decreased 6 st evenly (24 st). Worked in st st increasing every 7th round 7 times (38st). Worked another 14 rows (or to lenth you want to underarm) to 2 st before marker. Take 4 st off on waste yarn. Make 2nd sleeve same.

I knit the body (Row 12) to 2 stitches before side marker, take next 4 stitches (and removing marker) off on waste yarn, place marker, knit sleeve onto needles, place marker, knit back section to 2 stitches before marker, take next 4 stitches off onto waste yarn, place marker, knit other sleeve onto needles, place marker and knit to end (all in pattern). Decrease every RS row while continuing in pattern: Work to 2 st before marker, k2tog, SM, ssk; repeat 3 times (4 st decreased) Bottom 2 photos are to this point.

I ran out of yarn after my 4th decrease (Row 8) and am waiting for more yarn which is on order and marked shipped. Fingers crossed that there will not be too noticeable changes to colour!!

The new yarn arrived and is not noticeably different! So happy that I can finish without having the frog anything!

Jan. 23/15 - I am back to finishing my raglan decreases every RS row. I continued my decreases while continuing in pattern for the fronts until I had 28 stitches remaining before the sleeve markers on both fronts. I worked the 28 stitches in pattern (RS row), cast off the sleeve, back and other sleeve, then worked the remaining 28 stitches in pattern. I split the rest of my yarn so that I had a second ball without breaking the yarn.

Next row (WS), work next row to end, place the other collar piece onto the same needles so that it is also the WS, attach second ball of yarn and work the row in pattern. Continue on both fronts at the same time until when you lay it down, it will join in the back while laying flat. For me it was about 6”, and it was with a Row 5 of the pattern which worked out perfectly since then my kitchener stitch join was a Row 6 of the pattern which is a knit row!

I sewed my pockets using a backstitch method of stitching them down between my knit ridges so that it does not show.
