I had 1.35 skeins leftover from the 5 that I bought for my Ravi. Shannon had 2 skeins of a dark gray handpainted from the same 75% superwash merino/15% silk/10% cashmere yarn so I bought it. The 3.35 skeins should hopefully be enough!
March 18, 2015: Cast on for the size 37.5 and followed the pattern. After I finished the first set of increases I thought that they weren’t evenly distributed but kept going. I got to after the 3rd increases and decided to frog back to the row before the 1st increases because they were skewed to the one side and because the daisy stitch was much tighter than the garter stitch rows.
I used an app that someone recommended in their notes for a different project that I put on my cellphone called “Knit Evenly”. You plug in that you are increasing, the # of stitches at the beginning of the row, # of stitches you are increasing by and it will calculate and guide you through each step! Worked like charm and you didn’t need to remember to keep track of where you were, just do it step by step using the “guide me” and “next” buttons until you are done the row.
For the tension issue with the daisy stitch I went up to a 4.0mm needle for those 6 rows of the pattern. FYI, even using 4.0mm needles, it was still tighter but the front bands help hide it ok and wearing it hides it as well - even when blocking it doesn’t pull flat for the shoulders.
For my dividing row (ws) and next row (rs), I did not bind off the sleeves but put them onto waste yarn so I combined these 2 rows. I knit 45, took 62 st onto waste yarn, CO 2, PM, CO 2, k90, took 62 st onto waste yarn, CO 2, PM, CO 2, k45. Then with CC1, I knit 2 rows to catch up with pattern.
I knit my Eilonwy A-line instead of with waist shaping so I did increases in place of decreases which I repeated 4 times in row 11 of the garter accent pattern for ease f remembering when to do the increases. I did not do the daisy st panel at the bottom because I did not want the tension issues so I replaced it with garter stitch in the 2 colours.
For the sleeves , I picked up 2, k62 off waste yarn, picked up 2, PM with main colour. I knit 1 row, purled 1 row. Row 3 was my decrease row k1, k2tog, k to last 2 st, ssk, k1). Knit 10 rows. Next row was decrease row. Knit 10 rows. Switched to CC1 and knit 16 rows of garter stitch without purling (https://youtu.be/45p2jKYUmlc). BO on RS row.
I have 8g left of my grey and 15g left of the pink.
