March 2014: being re made into a classic car back seat cover….Unpicked the border, adding at least another 21 squares then adding a new border.
This granny was made using a 6 mm hook if I was making it again I might use a 5mm making it a little tighter.
Square Measures: approx:5”square and the throw is to fit the back seat of the car I have made 9x7 then I’m adding a 6” border
Made with: one strand of Sylecraft Special DK and a random dyed sock yarn worked as one yarn for the first two rounds, the third was the same colour Stylecraft with a cream sock wool to make it lighter then joined with Stylecraft Aran in black.
Basic solid granny pattern:
Magic circle.
R1: 3dc ch3 repeat for all 4 sides, sl st to complete round.
R2: 2dc, ch3,2dc in corner sp. 1 dc in each of the next 3 sts, sl st to complete round (7dc each side)
R3: 2dc, ch3, 2dc in corner sp. 1dc in each of the next 7sts, repeat for each side, sl st to complete round (11dc for each side)
R4: Change to black, join as you go, 1dc, ch3, 1dc, in the corner sp. 1dc in each side st, repeat for all 4 sides, sl st, to complete round (13dc each side)
Make as many as you need for a blanket then add a dc border…I’m going to do stripes and make it about 6” for the re-modelled car seat blanket April 2014
Started as a half done rainbow striped cushion front I ripped and blended and i’m making into a small sampler blanket of tweedy blends, as a reference blanket for mixing yarns together
First 24 squares together today (7th Feb.) picture of it over the end of the sofa too…looks good, would make a funky sofa or chair cover
Feb 8th: now 36 squares made 6x6 not sure if it should stay a square or a bigger rectangle…then a border to do……or may be another cushion?
Feb 16th decided on a cot blanket 7 x 6 squares and a border of 8 rounds
Decided to do a shell edging to finish it off
