Notes

I made these a couple of years ago, using the brown as MC; now the blue is MC and the brown is CC1. Pheasant is once again CC2. I still wash & wear the first pair, but she’s going a bit thin in places.

Brown cuff then 10 rounds
Rowan rounds stripe 7 rounds
Continue in Blue
Cast on 64 stitches on size 3.00mm needles. Continue in 2.75mm. Have calculated 50 rounds to heels this should be OK. Make sure to measure it before you get there!
17 done so 33 left.
On the bottom of the leg the split for heel

Knit 16 stitches - turn
Slip 1 purl 31 stitches. Leave remaining 32 stitches on spare needle
Then start flap. That gives 2 extra rows. I did 30 rows that makes it 32 rows in total

Do gusset pick up 19 each side plus 10 from heel turn – decrease from gusset to leave 16 sts – 23 rounds plus 1 row from after pickup.
Foot - Measure and count from gusset, as usual as this is the easiest. +/- 65 rounds to toe.

For toe change to Rowan for +/- 5 rounds then Change to brown for 2 rounds and Kitchener.

As I’ve used all the silk, I’m trying the Rowan Pheasant, which is a nice pure 3ply wool.
NOT TO BE. It worked out far too thick, but I needed to try, so I know I could do the toes in this combination on thicker socks as it would be much stronger than the single wool.

I bought some more silk, which I’m waiting for now. It arrived but much too fine with it being sewing silk thread. Not to worry. Next time I’ll try my heel flap stitches for my toes as that could be quite friendly.
