Did swatch of John Arbon Essex Sock 4 ply. The 2.75mm is as right as I can hope. I’m certainly not going to lose any sleep on the first sock. I’ll cast on with 3.00mm then do rib with 2.75mm. I think I’ll change back to 3.00mm for the pattern as I don’t think there’s a lot of stretch. I’ll possibly need to go back to the 2.75mm for the remainder where there’s no fair aisle.

Ribbing 12 rows
Knit 1 round then change to 3.00cm needles and the pattern (25 rounds) = 38 rounds. Extra 12 rounds to heels. = 50 rounds to heels

K16, turn – purl 32 for heel stitches. Leave other 32 stitches on spare needle.
30 rows plus the 2ss rows for separating = 32. If this one is too long 28 + 2ss
Heel turn with silk then pick up for gusset 19 + 10 from start of foot is row 28 onwards. Measure length from gusset pickup row.
65 in MC on foot then change to CC 1. Decide what to do when I run out on Mizzle – wind another skein or use another colour before toe?
6 rows then start toe - I’m doing wedge with Kitchener for me.

Sock 2 - Got to round 54 in MC then 55 to 71 for remainder of foot in C1.
