I managed to get some diagrams to help anyone with the hood - please take a look. I hope this helps.

This shows the first lot of shaping followed by continuing straight until work measures …. I ignored the inches given and worked straight until it fit from centre of button hole band to centre back.

I again worked the fronts and back in one piece upto the armholes and then worked fronts and back separately, sewed up the shoulder seams and picked up round the arm and worked down the sleeve. Just a few buttons to add now.
