Oh to be weaving again!
Almost exactly five months ago, I was weak and succumbed to pressure and let the packers throw my plastic bag with the ASIL into one of the cartons. And regretted it almost immediately.
Finally we have a house and this is my first craft project. I was afraid I might have forgotten to warp, but it all came back. The only error was in not allowing myself my usual hair splitting over how long to make the warp so it would give me the longest scarf from one skein. So I have yarn left over, and the scarf is a smidgen short.
The yarn was a gift from a non-yarny friend (I made her those fingerless gloves, that shawl, and that cowl. But this scarf will go to a cousin I’ll meet on Saturday after many many years, who sent me some knitting frames (which are also called looms), which I tried using once but which didn’t call to me. Perhaps Chandra will use them a few years from now.
As always I wish I could have used up every scrap of the skein, but at least I have fabric! And so quickly, too. I think this was my first time with worsted/aran weight and I was shocked at the speed. Even if I’d warped longer, I’d still have finished overnight.
The colours aren’t a mottled mess as I’d feared they might be, thank heavens. Just a hint of plaid.
I love my little loom.
