Clawed Braines edition, includes 50g merino sock (indigodragonfly), 10g for eyes, 10g for belly, 5g for the teeths, a zipper and a ceramic button.
Kit also comes with the Knit-Your-Own-Adventure pattern by the brilliant Erin Wilk.
I have a couple of mods in mind that aren’t in the pattern, will detail them as I go.

Started over, mostly remember the mods I wanted to improvise (notably knitting a fullsize pocket somehow, possibly picking up and knitting on top of the belly colouring?), but I had forgotten the purl stitches and had no stitch markers and was in some weird mood when I started so it ended up shoved in the bookcase (??) and abandoned until today.

Getting some traction. Knitting on super tiny needles is taking a little bit of practice but I’m getting there. Need more light with little needles and little yarns, it seems.
Trying not to think about how much is left because there is so much.
9st/in which is I think right (misplaced the pattern again, d’oh).
2015-09-13
Oh, dear, actually 9.5 st/in unblocked. And I found the pattern that’s 1.5 st/in smaller than needed.
Apparently the needle in my 2.75mm pouch was actually a 2mm, which I found out when I measured today to figure out what I was using. The danger of starting a project and getting moving on it with years in between. Past me should have checked the needle size…
Anyway, moving on, I discover I’ve knit three rows too many, so I’m tinking back. Being a little too small if it is after blocking will be okay, I’ll just add a small block in the zipper so it’s a little smaller. On we go!

Eyes: 10.5g
Teeth: 5.0g
Body: 48.2g remainder after lower bit of body
Bib: 8.6g remainder after lower bit of body
I think I may have extra. Goes with making a mini-version. Midi? Not-quite-as-intended…
Off to relearn knitted cast on, because I keep forgetting that one. And teeths! Funny little teeths.

Eyes were apparently .5g, lol, as I have 10g left after finishing… :D
Tried the double-knitting stranding intarsia technique and oh yeah, that’s some interesting stuff! Going to make a swatch with bigger yarn, lol, to demonstrate. I think maybe two rows in light fingering on 2mm needles is not going to be sufficiently demonstrative. :P

44.3g left of the teal after finishing the eye strip, so 3.9g used for the eye strip of the teal.
I really do think I’ll have enough to do a whole other squirrel when I’m done…

Ripped back to the teeth.
Started over, paying attention to the stranding part as well as the intarsia/doubleknitting and that’s much better.

Successfully sewed on the zipper last weekend (after a significant challenge working this out), and am picking up the stitches. I’m a little challenged in getting the stitch count right, but on we go!
2015-11-13
So…a few things.
- READ THE PATTERN because that matters. You’ll need a stitch in the zipper on either end BEFORE you pick up stitches, and you will need to pick them up in a weird way.
- work out the flow of picking up the stitches first. I drew little squares to work out how to fit 18 stitches into 24 and 14 into 23 and 11 into 21 rows and 18 into 39 rows. That helped pick things up properly.
- Trust Erin. Just do what you’re told.
Now that I’m back on track picking up stitches, I should be back on track finishing this little guy!

Finished picking up the stitches on Saturday, finished knitting the short rows today!
Kitchenering her shut then I will add the pocket to the front and figure out ears and a tail.
Leaning toward a 3d tail rather than a flat one. But it won’t be fluffy.
2018-06-09
Almost finished the tail at WWKIP Day today at KPL. Just need to stuff it and possibly weight it, then close it off.
I think I’ll proceed with the little pocket on the front. Trying to determine if I’ll sew it on or knit it on.

Hated the tail, took it out and started over, will make it flat and lined with cardboard so it’s a stabilizer. I also made a little cardboard box that fits inside, but the dimensions aren’t right, probably need some complex blocking.
Then, that pocket again, ha ha. And ears.
2019-02-19
Finished the run over tail, didn’t use cardboard, and added the leaf from The Vintage Leaf I knit ages ago. Very happy with this addition!
Thought last night about the ears, and I think I will knit them as shallow v attachments on the top of the head.

Finished him up, named by Jenn: Indigo Montoya (tear his arms off, Fezzig!)
Added a little clip for one arm, and the other arm may get some bendy wire in it. It’s “repaired” a few times, like his front pocket. Other mods include a magnetic head, a cardboard box skeleton, and a front pocket.
I’m especially delighted by the leaf on the tail, though. It makes me happy every time I see it.
Inside his little box body he has:
29.97g of the dark teal (50g)
6.29g of the light turquoise (10g)
5.98g of the brown (10g)
4.25g of the white (5g)
That is enough to make another one at the tiny gauge I accidentally knit this one at.
He has no legs. He is okay with this.
