Notes

You take the road, I’ll take the river
You bring the fire, I’ll bring the jewels
And in the evening underneath a roaring sky
We will meet and wait and pray for the monsoon

-“Luisa’s Bones,” Crooked Fingers

Because one beaded lace shawl is never enough. The yarn is a deep and delicate grey shot with purple, and the beads are gold and purple and copper all at the same time.

4/26/10: It didn’t occur to me until after I’d done 27 rows and 64 beads, so the math isn’t gonna be exact, but I decided I’m going to do a “before and after” weigh-in to see what percentage of the final project weight is in beads. Currently the entire project -- unworked yarn, worked yarn, already-placed beads and the needle -- is weighing in at 114 grams, with the unworked yarn alone weighing 107.

7/6/10: Completed the last yucca pattern repeat. So very looking forward to doing a different chart for a while!

4/3/11: Final agave chart done, ready to start on the edging. I cannot even make a guess at the current size, as it is rapidly outgrowing the needle. The best I can say is oh my goodness the bigness.
