Since I hate anything with a tight neck, I started the number of stitches for row 5.

Also, working in BLO since it’s supposed to be better in terms of keeping verticals from angling off.

So far, I’m having fun seeing how the ombré yarn and the tapestry bits come out as it grows.

Is it just me, or is it impossible to work over the yarn you’re not using when you alternate colours every stitch?

Instead of “blank” rows at the bottom of the yoke, I added a second zigzag like the one above the blue diamonds. To make the maths for this easier, I also made an extra increase, to give 16 stitches per section. End result makes yoke 2 rows longer and 288 stitches instead of 270.

Tried it on with stitch markers joining front and back at armpit. Worryingly tight.

My solution. I marked the beginning and end of the sleeve sections with separate markers. Then I made two matching sleeve sections up to fit my upper arms loosely. I seamed these sections and then sewed them in place with the seam level with the back seam markers, 3 yoke stitches to one repeat of the rib section. The “excess” sleeve is treated like the point where one might add a chain under the arm when splitting for sleeves and body on a top down sweater.

As the yoke seemed short, I made the body “rib” depth as if making the largest size. Obviously, the length also needed to be larger to match the stitches added to the inside sleeve. Keeping my fingers crossed that the grey yarn won’t run out before I finish. I had only used one and a bit balls when I finished the yoke, but I’m about to break open the last ball and I have at least a quarter of the body section still to go, probably more like a third and more.
