Mods:
- 14 lace repeats
- decreased down to 1 purl st in between the lace
- increased the bodice, thinking that the elastic would make up for it (but I shouldn’t have!! its a bit loose).
- bodice is also different yarn (cascade fixation)
- the straps: i picked up 19st, -did reverse stockinette and -decreased every other row down to 9st to make the triangle, -then did two 3st i-cords and bound off the 3st in the middle of them ( i was thinking about doing three icords and braiding them but liked the look of this better). and sewed them to the back. pretty sure they were less than 9in long, but they picked up the slack (literally) nicely b/c the bodice was otherwise too big, so the tight straps lifted it into a good fit. dont ask me how, it just worked… :)
the fit is GREAT. i think i made this tighter gauge than the pattern, on purpose, so its a bit heavier for a humid summer like ones we have here, but i think it will serve me well.
YARN: the whole point of this project was to try and use up this pima tencel I had…after reading countless reviews that said it stretched out like crazy, I was prepared for the same, hence the tightening of the gauge. Indeed, after a long day of wearing it grows longer, but that actually works to my advantage because longer shirts look better on me than short ones. hoorah!
it is super soft!
it sheds a little, and bled quite a bit when i washed it for the first time.

the last pic shows when i thought it was long enough (at about 11 or 12 repeats) but then decided it was not.
well, i started this on Memorial Day, and finished it on the Fourth of July! and really, didn’t knit that much in between; or actually, i did knit, but didn’t get very far, b/c of the yarn mishap etc. (see below).

I think i might have a solution. I happen to have some cascade fixation (the elastic yarn) in pretty much the EXACT purple of the other yarn (maybe that’s b/c they ARE both from cascade), so i’m making the entire bodice in fixation. it will havea diff. texture b/c of the elastic, but since its a diff. stitch anyway (the lace patten vs the stockinette at the top), i’m hoping it won’t look too out of place. only time (time spenting knitting) will tell!

i ran out of yarn!!! i figured that might happen but was hoping it would not….ahhhhhH!

ok so i decided to do exactly what she described in the opening paragraph:
i measured out a gauge of the german herringbone, then based it off my hip measurement to get the stitch count, and cast-on!
I decided I liked the look of size5 needles better than 6, so i based my gauge off that. It ended up being really close to hers so alls well that ends well….
(hopefully this ends well) :)
