My first colourwork project!

I am not carrying the yarns up through the work, it’s too long between colour changes.

I did not catch my floats until the top of the first mitt, then I started practicing how to catch the floats on the rows with five stitches of the same colour in a row.

using kit - arrived 2/19

3.19 finished first mitt except for the thumb. Did one full colour repeat before starting thumb, one full colour repeat while adding thumb gusset, and one full colour repeat before starting top decreases. That worked out quite well!

Started second mitt. Am working on catching my floats from the beginning this time.

3.25 finished second mitt except for the thumb. Love them so far!

3.26 finished first thumb

3.26 finished second thumb! Now just 124 ends to work in…

4/10 finally had time to work in the ends. Wet blocked and waiting for them to dry! This yarn smells a bit funny when wet, guessing it’s the dye. It’s not offensive but not that nice wet-wool smell that I like.

They match my coral rubber boots perfectly! A little colour to brighten up a rainy day :)
