Notes

I started off using the pattern for this, but kinda winged it after a few rows. Used the pattern for the basis of a few things, though, such as using back or front loop only on corners (which was pretty cool to learn)! Made as a present for someone who is very into their pink aesthetic.

My major woopsie becomes pretty obvious once it’s on its side — I think I was slip-stitching wrong, and it didn’t exactly decrease, but shifted the stitch? I corrected to the ‘invisible join’ method as I neared the pipe, but I’d already done the ‘waves’ and didn’t really feel like doing it again (it also didn’t become an obvious issue until I started stuffing it, which I did towards the end).

I struggled to find information on how to make things like the wavy patterning in amigurumi — most relied on hdc/dc stitches. I first started trying to do decreases and increases, but switched to doing hdc/dc stitches to add/reduce height. You can tell I got the math a little bit wonky by looking at the back, but from the front it looks okay.

Decided I liked the look of the piece in this design — I don’t know their pattern, but I (believe) I did:
Row 1: magic ring, dc x5 (5sts)
Row 2: inc x 5 (10sts)
Row 3: sc x 10 in back loop only (10 sts)
Row 4: sc x 10 (10 sts)
Row 5: (sc x 1, inc x 1)x5 (15 sts)
Row 6: (sc x 2, inc x 1)x5 (20 sts)
In the join, sc x2, turn
sc x 1, turn
sc x 1 between the stitch (not sure how to explain this bit), ch 1 & fo

I then sc’d into the front loop of the back loop only stitches, and sewed to attach it. The ~greenery is loosely sewn in.

My first time attempting any kind of embroidering, so it’s not perfect (and may very well come apart with too much handling), but it’s still got the ‘senpai notice me’ look about it.

In addition to getting the maths right & keeping track of stitch counts (avoiding the horrific wonkiness I ended up as a result), I’d have probably also used a smaller hook if I were to do it again. I think I used either a 3.5 or 4.0mm hook.
