Not sure what this yarn is, it’s a roving that looks similar to Lionbrand’s ferris wheel, but thicker. From Spotlight’s ‘mill end’ packets.
First attempt at a beanie — it’s solid af. My tight tension, choice of stitch types, and hook size probably all contributed to it. It also definitely doesn’t have enough height, and I’m not a fan of SC BLO ribbing where it’s got very little stretch here.
Had a chance to finally use some different stitches — mostly the alpine and moss stitch. Also learned some of these two-row stitches are easier to decrease than increase (for my brain, at least). Herringbone + tight tension = not suited to the top of a beanie, fwiw.
Tried making it top-down first and realise I had too many difficulties trying to free-style(?) it and evenly distribute increases so it ended up looking bizarre. Still looks a bit bizarre but it’s grown on me — my dad is calling it his hippie hat & likes it, even if it’s not quite useful in the middle of summer.
Colour is gooooorgeous. The occasional block of green stands out beautifully.
