Notes

I had the opportunity to try out Keith Leonard’s new Knits All Done Fairy Dust yarn earlier this year, during Keith’s Virtual Summer Dye Camp 2024.

One skein is enough to make this shoulder-covering lacy cowl, which is a modified version of the Cotton Lace Ponchette.

I used slightly thicker needles for a more drapey fabric.

The final dimensions of the cowl are 15” tall and about 30” in circumference.

Modifications to the pattern to make a cowl:

  • Cast on 68 sts.
  • Knit 30, pm, knit to end. The place maker will make it easier to find/remember when to start the lace pattern.
  • Start the first row with “K38, sm” then follow pattern instructions.
  • Knit until the yarn is almost used up. I had enough to knit 13 lace strips.
  • Bind off loosely.
  • Close the seam along the garter section and - optionally - leave it open along the lace section. This will allow you to wear the cowl opening towards the front or over the shoulder. The lace section will serve as a shoulder cover.
  • Weave in all ends. Block as desired.
