This will be my “new” tee for the Berroco Summer Tee Party 2024 … I would like to finish one “old” tee as well … AND knit the Forsyth shorts!
Let the summer knitting begin!
June 2, 2024 Swatch done, knitting started …
It’s been a good first weekend.
I knitted and blocked the swatch yesterday (cast on gauge +10sts, 6 rows garter, gauge +6 rows, 5 rows garter, bind off).
It took me some time to find the right needles … wooden needles were too sticky, the metal needles are great (Chiagoo US 1.5/2.5mm and 2.5/3mm, 32”). I went down as usual with the needle size because I knit loosely.
Gauge is right on. The fabric is so, so soft!
In my knitting I got to the end of the lace pattern … I didn’t realize that it is only 24 rows! It goes fast. Next: Short rows.
June 8, 2024 - End of Week 1
I’m past the last increase on the yoke … with currently 404 sts on the needle, each row is an accomplishment on its own, but the yarn makes it really easy … it is so soft and glides nicely that knitting is very enjoyable.
June 11, 2024 Split happens!
Yoke is done, the stitches for the sleeves are on stitch holders, and working on the body monster is next.
I need to find something to binge watch …
June 16, 2024 End of Week 2
While no major milestone has been accomplished, I want to capture progress for Week 2: I just started the third skein of Tillie, and the body is about 8” long.
Pleasant knitting, no surprises … HAPPY.
June 22, 2024 End of Week 3
Body is done.
I made it about 2” longer than the pattern asks for, because I like it that way.
I plan to add a few rows to the sleeves, too, before the hem … we’ll see.
July 3, 2024 All done!
I’m done and happy!
Finished the Jena last weekend. It fits perfectly, but I’m putting it away for fall or when temperatures are below 100F, whichever comes first.
One last change report: On the sleeves, I knitted 8 rows of stockinette before starting the ribbing to make them a little bit longer.
I like the fit and the looks … doing the short rows in the back after the pattern looks really good, and the amount of short rows works just perfectly, at least for me.
