Notes

This project will contain the motifs that I will make throughout our “Weave & Stitch Along”.

In this “Along” we will over the course of 7 weeks look at different embroidery stitches, and how they can be worked on pin looms.

Check the blog posts tab (top right) for blog entries regarding this weave-and-stitch-along or check turtleloom.com.

Use tag “WSAlong” in your project description to make it easy for others to take a look at your motifs.

Week 6 - Two ‘R’s make ‘X’-Stitch

Time for Cross Stitch and its endless opportunities! Practice the basics on the letter “J” for July and embellish it with a “Little Heart”.

Special mention: Cross stitch has a long history with pin loom weaving … for a plethora of ideas check out the Weave-It, Loomette, and more booklets in the “Projects” section of www.eloomanation.com. Thank you, eLoomanator, for preserving this precious piece of pin loom history!

Week 8 - Now What?

Here is the grand finale … putting everything we’ve done so far together and make a Sampler Table Topper …

The “squares” final project is done.

It wanted to be a wall hanging.

Since I did not have any dyed yarn in the right color, I used vintage cotton thread (from my friend Marcella) for joining the squares. Worked like a charm, and now I always have a special memory of that General Store in Vermont …

Border: Along the top for the rod I crocheted (American terminology) a single stitch into a scallop, chain 5, next sc into the second scallop, repeat. Along the sides I crocheted a sc into each scallop with 1 chain in between. The bottom row is shells of 5 dc separated by 1 sc, spaced as needed.

WSAL memories preserved … Inspired by a fellow WSAL weaver I decided to turn my hexagons into a project bag. I’m very pleased with the result as it displays the embroidered motifs nicely, but it also does justice to the beautiful indigo hexagons that my daughter wove and dyed for me.

It’s hard to believe, but I think … this is the END OF THIS WSAL! I hope that many people over time will come visit and try all or part of it.

Thank you, all y’all!
