Notes

This is my second attempt to knit this pattern. I saw the new Disney’s Aladdin live action movie and got re-inspired to try this pattern again.

From my last attempt I knew I needed to increase the size of the needle. The pattern says to use US size 0 (2.00 mm)and that is just too tight of a tension for me. I used size US size 3 (3.25mm) to cast on and then used US size 2 1/2 (3.00 mm) double points to knit the slippers. The bonus for using the larger needles is that the slippers fit my size 10 feet better and more comfortable than my first attempt. The tension is still very tight but it works for this pattern and this time it was easier to knit using the larger needles. I made the large size pattern in both attempts.

After casting on I knit one round before knitting extra rounds for a total of 5 rounds of round round one. The extra depth made the slipper fit better on my feet.

The other adjustment I did was to purl (wrong side) around the entire slipper after I knitted the last repeat of round 20. Then I grafted the sole seam. This adds only a 1/4 inch to the width of the slipper (a good thingwink) but it made it easier for grafting the sole seam which is why I decided to purl that extra round. I started the purl on the wrong side from the toe point and ended in same place before cutting the yarn to start grafting the sole seam.

Like all patterns… knitting one a second time around is easier and faster due to the familiarity of it. So now I have a matching pair because I do have two feetsmirkfootprints
