Love the owl. Really unhappy with how the rest of the mitten shapes itself. Don’t like the seam down the palm. The thumb is too big and (for my hand) starts too high. Don’t like the wrist shaping at all, it just bags around my hand.

New attempt alterations:
Switched to Red Heart Soft in offwhite.
Left:
Start with 32 FDC as Row 1
Row 2, 3: alternate FPDC, DC around
Row 4-11: as written in pattern
Row 12: Split thumb out here - After Owl -- 5 DC, skip 14, 5 DC.
Row 13: As written, except split is complete, so after owl DC around.
Row 14-15 Continue as written
Row 16: Ss 6 st, SC around to last 6 st, Ch 12, join to first SC
Row 17: Ch 2 dc around, join.
Row 18: Continue with top of mitt as in pattern
Combination of the hdcs in lower mitt and dropping the thumb start down both combine together to make the pattern better sit around my thumb and palm. And I’m less worried about the glove being easily pulled or falling off my hand.
Note: Altered pattern also leaves opening to fold top back so fingers are usable… because motherhood.
