I followed the directions for the blanket pattern, even though I had a different yarn size.

Used stitch markers for ends. For some reason I kept adding stitches without them.

When I was at the end of the main blanket, I turned the blanket and began across the top for the border in this blanket.

Edging:

Round 1. Sc’d with main color across top row first, making a corner of 3 sc in last stitch of row. (93 stitches) Sc’d evenly down 1st edge of blanket, (103 stitches) 3 sc in bottom loop of 1st foundation chain at base of blanket, sc’d across in bottom loop of foundation chain to end, with 2 more sc in last chain, (94 sc) sc’d up the last edge of the blanket, (103 sc) 2 sc in same st as 1st sc in round, join, change colors. 394 total stitches in this round

Round 2. Hdc in each stitch of the round, adding 2 extra in the corners (for a total of 3 hdc in that stitch). join.

Round 3 slst to middle stitch of corner from previous round. Ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch-1 sp). (Sk 1 sc, dc in next sc, ch 1) across to corner. (Dc in same sc, ch 1) x3 (corner). Repeat around next 3 sides. end at corner with (Dc in same sc, ch 1) x2, join with slst at third chain in the beginning ch-4. (last corner made)

Round 4 1 hdc in ea. sti and chain sp around, with 3 hdc in corner dc..

Round 5 follow round 3 in pattern, just sk a stitch instead of a sp.

I glued the plane on with fabric glue so that the other side didn’t have ugly stitching on it. I had shaky hands, and the glue got on the outside of the yarn a bit, and didn’t dry quite-so-clear. I will have to go over it with brown fabric marker, lol.

I used a 5/8 inch sewing ribbon by the Ribbon Boutique,, purchased at Hobby Lobby. I washed by hand and dried in a lingerie mesh bag with great results.

After a few test washes, I noticed that the Caron yarn on the trim of the blanket was starting to fuzz. So, I used Red Heart With Love brand instead. The wings are still in the Caron and aren’t getting fuzzy.
