This bag has been so useful to carry my on-the-go projects around. Its always in my handbag filled with some WIP!
Its really quick and easy to make up, and can easily be adapted to any size: (note that all stitches are in-between the stitches of previous rounds)
Foundation ring: chain 4 and join with sl st to form ring or use magic ring;
R1: ch3 (counts as first dc), 11 dc into ring; (12dc)
R2: Join new colour with sl st in-between any two dc from R1, ch 1 and sc in same space, ch 1, sc in-between next two dc, repeat around until end;
R3: Join new colour in any ch1 space, ch3 (counts as dc), dc in same space, 2dc in each ch1 space around;
R4: Join new colour in-between any 2dc group, ch 3 (counts as dc), (2dc in in-between next two dc, 1dc in-between next dc), repeat around until end;
R5:Join new colour in-between any 2dc group, ch 3 (counts as dc), (2dc in in-between next two dc, 1dc in-between each of next 3 stitches), repeat around until end;
R6:Join new colour in-between any 2dc group, ch 3 (counts as dc), (2dc in in-between next two dc, 1dc in-between each of next 3 stitches), repeat around until end;
R7: Join new colour with sl st in-between any sts from previous round, sc in each st around;
R8:Join new colour in-between any 2dc group, ch 3 (counts as dc), (2dc in in-between next two dc, 1dc in-between each of next 4 stitches), repeat around until end;
R9:Join new colour in-between any 2dc group, ch 3 (counts as dc), (2dc in in-between next two dc, 1dc in-between each of next 5 stitches), repeat around until end;
R10: Join new colour in-between any 2dc group, ch 3 (counts as dc), (2dc in in-between next two dc, 1dc in-between each of next 6 stitches), repeat around until end;
The base of the bag is now complete. If you need a bigger bag, then continue with the sequence above ie adding in an additional dc in-between the 2dc until you get the size you require; If you want a smaller bag then stop on any row above when you have the size base that works for you and then follow the instructions for remaining rows below
R11: Join new colour in-between any sts from previous round, ch3 (counts as dc), 1dc in-between each st around;
R12: Join new colour in-between any sts from previous round, ch2 (counts as hdc), hdc in each st around;
Remaining rounds - I used rows of either all sc, all hdc or all dc depending on the colour effect I wanted; Continue adding rows until you get the size bag you want;
Drawstring: crochet a chain which is approximately 2half times the perimeter of your bag, thread it through a yarn needle and then thread the length of chain stitches over an under a row of dc. Add some beads to the end and voila - pull it closed and you are done.
If anyone makes one of these I would love to see it - please send me a photo.
If you find any errors in my instructions please let me know.
I hope this helps anyone wanting to make a quick and easy bag.
