Notes

I improvised this hat to match Ria’s Fingerless Gloves. I used a J-hook to create a starting chain of 70, then joined in a circle and switched to the H-hook and dc around (70). For each round, chain 2 and alternate FPDC/BPDC to create the ribbing (6 rounds). Treat the chain-2 as a stitch, but don’t BPDC on it. If you leave it alone and just join to your the first stitch of the current round, then the chain-2 resembles a BPDC. This prevents bulk at the seam. Then I switched back to J-hook and HDC around with regular decreases starting at the 3rd or 4th round to create the rounded shape. I started decreasing every 10 stitches and then switched to every 5 stitches and at the end it was every 3rd stitch. I closed the top with a few sc’s. Fits snug and cozy!

This took about 3 hours from start to finish, and I used about 2/3 of a skein.
