Notes

23 July 2024: I love this thing. Full stop.

I’m totally going to go to Camp Crystal lake (Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco is in Hardwick, New Jersey) and prance around in my Mrs Voorhees jumper.

Measurements (taken flat unless otherwise noted):
Collar circ: 14” taken around unstretched
Chest circ: 18”
Body circ: 18”
Upper arm circ: 7”
Cuff circ: 3”
Body length center front: 19”
Body length center back: 21”
Body length from underarm: 13”
Sleeve length from underarm: 17” cuff folded, 19” unfolded
Shoulder width: 5”

Needles
Body:
US6: long tail tubular cast on and two fdtn rows
US8: 17 rows of 1x1, and for for the rest (in hindsight, I should’ve used smaller needles for ribbed hem)

Sleeves:
US6: long tail tubular cast on and two fdtn rows
US7: 17 rows of 1x1
US8: for the rest

Collar:
US6: 1 x 1 rib
US7: bound off in pattern

Yarn
Two strands of Holst Garn Supersoft PLUS one strand Titicaca held together throughout.

Supersoft Chiffon color is amazing. It’s strangely (in the best possible way) iridescent. Softest lavenders and blues intertwined.

Setting in sleeves:

Final thoughts: I probs should’ve knitted the body in the round, and separated front and back at the underarms. Ditto for the sleeves. The sleeves were a pain. I couldn’t even describe what I did. To simplify next time—if I were to knit this again, I would knit it the same way I did Inisherin: just do a drop shoulder and not do set-in sleeves, and instead pick up sleeve sts and knit sleeves in the round. I don’t think that would change the aesthetic too much.

22 July 2024: I wasn’t going to wash it until the fall —given that it’s like 90° everyday and every night here, but couldn’t wait. I packed it in a tiny garment bag and threw it in the front loader, delicate cycle. Came out amazing. Cables look plump—yay! Now drying on a rack.

Also I can pop my big head through the collar. So 92 sts turned out fine.

21 July 2024: 100 off the needles. I still detest seaming.

Weight after folded collar, and all seams:
Cone a: 150g
Cone b: 123g
Titicaca a: 12g

Collar: picked up 92 sts. Target was 96… oh well. Did approx 2.5” 1x1 rib. Bound off. Folded in half and sewed it onto picked up edge on the inside.

20 July 2024: sleeves washed, drying on a rack. Shoulders seamed via 3-needle bind-off. Cables look a little flat…

19 July 2024: sleeves off the needles.

Weight after second sleeve:
Cone a: 159g
Cone b: 132g
Titicaca c: 8g

Weight after first sleeve:
Cone a: 194g
Cone b: 168g
Titicaca c: 29g

Sleeves knitted bottom up. Long tail tubular cast on 44 (basing it on Inisherin), did a bunch of 1x1 rows for folded ribbed cuff. Then switched to larger needles increased every 7th row. Cable motif on center. For the life of me, I can’t put into words what I did with shaping the cap.

15 July 2024: front and back off the needles. Front panel is much much narrower than the back because of the cables. Handwashed and pinned on top of each other. So that they’re the same width.

Weight after back:
Cone a: 231g
Cone b: 201g
Titicaca b: 15g

Back: long tail tubular cast on 96 sts. Did a bunch of 1x1 for ribbed hem, then plain stockinette. Did the same decreases for sleeve opening as the front. Neck shaping.

Weight after front:
Cone a: 290g
Cone b: 260g
Titicaca a: 17g

Front: long tail tubular cast on 96 sts (Inisherin was 95). Did a bunch of 1x1 for ribbed hem then the cabled body. did a few decreases to shape sleeve opening. Neck shaping similar to Inisherin, but didnt start as soon as Inisherin, this way less sts to pick-up. Target is 96 sts for ribbed collar.

Cables: the jumper in the movie had the 3/2 cables all going in one direction. I took the liberty to switch them up.

11 July 2024: cast on.

Start weight:
Cone a chiffon: 343g
Cone b chiffon: 315g
Titicaca a Monet: 50g
Titicaca b Monet: 50g
Titicaca c Monet: 50g

I watched Friday the 13th for some good summer fun. And I re-fell in love with Mrs. Voorhees’ pullover. So began my obsession. I looked online and found two knitters who knitted their own brilliant versions from absolute scratch.

One from 2015:
http://strungoutfiberarts.blogspot.com/2015/11/the-unluck...

Another from 2022:
https://fridaythe13thfanatics.com/my-hand-knit-recreation...

Neither released a pattern.

I read and re-read their blog entries, rewatched the scenes, looked online at screencaps, and counted stitches a million times. I had an idea how the diamond pattern was knitted but bought the Book Club cardi pattern to get a better idea. It’s different than the Voorhees pullover which has a space inbetween the two cabled stitches. I’m 100 positive that there’s a purled stitch inbetween.

Then the construction. Was it a simple drop shoulder construction like the Inisherin? Alas, I don’t think so. The side cables peter out up top which leads me to believe that there’s a lot of decreasing/shaping involved. Which means sewn-on set-in sleeves. Ugh.
