This was a project for our local knitting guild, Miami Valley Knitting Guild. I have named it “Wallflower” because it is an easy pattern to overlook. The pictures on the pattern page do not show the lovely detail of the stitch.

The colors in the last photo are not accurate, but I wanted to post a close up of the stitch stretched out. I am an aggressive blocker. I made the decision to finish the shawl in points, but it would have been just as easy to let the bottom of the shawl end in rounder waves.

I added an extra stitch at the beginning and end of every row. On the wrong side, I slipped this stitch purlwise with the yarn in front, turned my work, and then knit that first stitch. I did not count it as a stitch in the pattern. It provided a nice smooth edge which could have been left as is, but me being me, I added a single crochet border on each side of the cast on stitches to the end.

The pattern as written is not the easiest to follow, but the finished product is quite lovely. It can easily be knit in a few evenings. It would make a lovely holiday gift.
