I really recommend knitting with bamboo needles for this project. My 4mm and 4.5mm needles were nickel and the stitches kept falling off as I was trying to bead. When I changed to my 5mm bamboo circs for the border, suddenly beading was so much easier as the yarn ‘sticks’ to the wood.
I followed the written instructions. This shawl was much easier to knit than the ‘Glam Shells’ that I did before this one. Less errors were made so it took me 5th of the time and I enjoyed every stitch.
I chose the stockinette pattern. It took me 6 attempts to make the yarn over holes the same size on both sides. Finally figured it by untwisting the right hand YO on the right side.
I used Size 5 Miyuki triangle beads and a .75mm crochet hook.
I purchased Traffic Light Lace Ring-Os stitch markers which were great until I moved up to 5mm needles, then they became a tight fit on the needles.
Stockinette section: 12 grams, used 4mm 40cm needles
First lace section: 8 grams, 25 beads, 4.5mm 60cm needles.
Second lace section: 14 grams, 31 beads.
Lace border: 27 grams, roughly 370 beads, too many to count! 5mm 60cm needles.
Yarn total: 61 grams
Bead total: 426
Completed shawl weight: 102 grams
Cast off using my 5mm bamboo needles as my 4.5mm metal needles were too slippery.
