I’ve been trying to learn to knit on and off since I was 8 but never succeeded.
When I saw this shawl I knew I just had to make it. I had been admiring Jodi’s (owner of Cuddlebums) hand dyed stormy rainbow yarn for a few months and wanted to get it in the merino/cashmere base. I knew these 2 would be the perfect match and I was right.
There was a lot of swearing during this project, when I started it I could do a knit stitch and a purl stitch but I had only cast on once when I was a kid and never ever completed a project so had no idea how to increase or cast off. So this was a pretty steep learning curve for me.
It isn’t perfect, there are 2 very small holes where I have slipped stitches but over all I simply couldn’t be happier with this. I’m really proud of myself.
I apologise for the picture of me wearing it. I got one of my young children to take the photo so it’s turned out a bit shaky and blurry, but it gives you an idea of the size. It’s been blocked only very lightly, just to tease open the eyelets and leave the stockinette section completely relaxed. (Took well over 500 pins to do it too because I didn’t want to open up the stockinette section and see the hole, also because it was the perfect size as it was I didn’t want it any bigger)
Shawl number 7 for my 12 shawl challange.
