This pattern appears to be from 1933 edition of Table Talk.

Cast on 126 stitches in black with 2.75mm needles. I’ve decided to ignore the three different needle sizes and just go with a 2.75mm because that’s my typical size for 4ply ribbing
To size up the pattern I will increase the size of each stripe vertically by 25% which should work with the 25% increase in stitches.

25% increase to 1.5 inches is 18 rows. So first black and grey stripes are 18 rows each..
First row of each stripe in knit stitch only to prevent purl bumps in CC.

I accidentally misread the first two stripes which were supposed to be 1.25” as 1.5” which I then multiplied by 25%.
The next stripe is supposed to be 2.5”. I could resize to 2” but then the relative size of the stripes would be off. To keep the correct relative size I will have to knit 3” X 25% increase which will be 3.75”. (36 rows)
This will mean the first 3 stripes are 7.5” instead of the original 5”.
If I keep going with my 2.75mm needle instead of changing to 3mm then the height of the stripes will reduce due to horizontal stretching since the garment will sit on a wider stomach area.
The pattern says to increase needle after the next stripe. I think I will do this.

Third stripe I knit until it was exactly twice the height of the previous two stripes.
Fourth stripe I have knit 12 rows on 3mm. The next one is supposed to be a little larger but I will also make it 12 rows as the knitting is getting a bit tall.

The mesh alongside stripes is trickier than it looks. Intarsia looks bad if starting with a purl. I had allocated 49 stitches plus selvedge for the stripes which meant starting with purl. I have ripped back and I am adding 1 row selvedge each side and seaming instead.

Cast off arm holes until width is 88 stitches. At 29 bars from black stripe, cast off 22 stitches in middle, leaving 33 on each side. Decrease by 1 stitch at neck side every RS for 2 rounds, then continue decreasing by 1 every RS at neck side while also casting off by 6 at shoulder side for 3 rounds. Finally cast off 9 stitches to complete shoulder.
