I’m making my Dad a lap blanket, inspired by the colours of Lucy of Attic24’s Moorland blanket, but using her Cosy Stripe pattern.
The pattern consists of 2 rows of trebles, then 2 rows of grannies. I’ve made a minor adjustment in that on the first row of trebles, I work into the space between the grannies on the row below.
(Work a treble into each of the first 2 St’s of a granny cluster. For the 3rd stitch - yarn over and pull a loop thru the 3rd st, yarn over and pull a loop thru the gap between the grannies (4 loops on the hook), yarn over and pull thru 3 loops on the hook, yarn over and pull thru last 2 loops on hook.)
The colours look very earthy and masculine.

Wow! This is working up really fast - 28” done already! Glad I chose aran!
Each row has 126 stitches, and I started with a treble st foundation row, rather than a chain.
I’m aiming for 9 pattern repeats which should leave just enough yarn for a border. I’m glad the lady in the shop persuaded me to put the 2nd ball of each colour by, as they don’t accept returns and there would have been a lot left.
Might go for chunky next time, maybe in spring colours?

It’s finished and looks FAB!
There was barely enough yarn to finish - I wanted to end with a grey row of trebles, then double crochet. I had to finish that row with light brown. ..
And the border was simply a line of half trebles on the 2 side edges, one in green, the other in brown.

I used almost the whole 500gm of yarn to make a blanket 32 X 38. I would have liked it to be a little longer, so the next one will be 30” wide to allow extra rows. And yes, I’ll be starting another very soon !
