I couldn’t resist Sandra’s fabulous design any longer and after much debating about colour schemes, decided to just dive in anyway and make do with the scraps I had to hand.
I’ve made 3 motifs so far and they’ve taken about 15g of each colour.

Going well but I’m not keen on the texture of the half circles. …Going to need to do a rethink on those.
Edit: I joined the face book group for the cal, and someone else had a similar issue and gave details of her fix.
If I can work out how, I’ll add a link.
Edit #2: Decided to go with the original. Once finished, you have to look closely to see the different texture.

Decided I’ll probably join them in a different way from the pattern.
I’m going to add a row of DC in the background colour to each one, increasing one stitch between each petal, then use a join as you go, (probably with granny stitch which needs a number of stitches divisible by 3, hence the increase) - then go back and fill in the triangles with granny stitch too.
Or I might change my mind again!

If you pop across to my blog, I’ve added a separate page dedicated to my version of the Marguerite Blanket.
There are plenty of pics along with how I’ll be working my joins when I get to them. Plus of course, links to Sandra’s original pattern!!

I started joining everything together tonight - and it’s going SO FAST!
I just need to decide what exactly to do for the half triangles at the edges. I reached the first one and will have a think overnight rather than have to frog tomorrow!

Well, I’m still not sure how I’m going to fill in those pesky half triangles. I decided to just carry straight on round the edge of the half motifs and work it out later!
I didn’t quite finish all the joining tonight as there was something good on the box that required concentration!
I’m trying to take (one handed) pics along the way too.

My blanket is now in one piece and there are just two triangle spaces left to fill! Although I will then have to tackle the half triangles. …..
And plan the border. ..

Well, I filled all the half triangles. And stitched the ends in too, before giving it a quick rinse and spreading it out to dry. I was hoping the uneven edge next to the half triangles above the full motifs would even be miraculously straightened out. It wasn’t. …
I then realised I’d done those half triangles wrong. … I corrected two of them properly - and fudged the rest!
I’ve also done a little sample of the border and will go with just plain granny stitch, with a single row of colour to lift it.
It already measures 44 X 57 inches, so it’s going to be a looooong way round for every row of the border! !!

It’s finished! And it’s very big!
I still need to stitch in all the ends on the border - each 50g ball only did about 1.25 rows!
When I bought the background yarn I had no idea how much I would need and bought 7 balls. I went back once I knew I needed more but they only had another 2….. So I had to order more online and it was completely different! If you look at the finished blanket, you can just make out that the edge is paler. It was almost a solid grey rather than grey marl. But luckily as it’s round the edge, it looks okay.
I might give it a slight blocking on the corners to keep them square. And take LOTS of photos!
