My friend made me the matching mittens several years ago and I wanted to try and make them, or the hat, myself one day too. There was a lot of yarn left, so I bought an extra ball of the background colour while it was still available, and tucked it all away.

In the past month I’ve practised fairisle with two Baa-ble hats, a snowflake cowl and a snowflake hat. My tension is much better, so now it’s time to try the Peerie Flooers Hat.

I’m using the original Rowan Tweed 4 ply but might switch the colours around a little, especially with the ribbing. And I’ve never made anything with 3mm needles before…. I had to buy a short circular before I could start!

Just the decreases to do now. I can just squeeeeeze it on my head at the moment, so it’s going to need a bit of stretching when blocked - or I try and sell it to someone with a smaller head!

I’ve run out of pale blue, so will just use red and beige for that band of decreases.
I also left the yellow out of the crown shaping and went with red and beige instead and personally, I prefer the look.

I couldn’t be happier with it - I still can’t quite believe that I made it!
