Taylor Swift’s crochet dress took the craft world by storm and lots of people came up with their own version.
Claire Proud, who owns Fully Woolly in Hythe, shared pics of her shorter version and had written up her notes as a lovely pattern.
I’m making it a bigger size and using cotton rather than pure wool. I’ve made a little test square, now to calculate stitch and row count.
Update
106 sts I think- 25 grannies plus 6 sts
17 rows for shoulder
18 rows for neck opening
I’ve made the back and it used a whole ball of the blue variegated. Which is discontinued! Fingers crossed there’s enough!

I’m going to run out of yarn before I finish both sleeves I think, never mind the edgings.
So… I will make the sleeves inches shorter and then add the white/brown/pale blue stripe along the edge at right angles to the sleeve stripes.
I hope!
My tension was way off as the body length has come out nearly 2” shorter than expected…
Armhole depth 8”, sleeve length estimated at 18”.

Sleeves
19 grannies for the length (15”)
(mis-counted… only had 18…)
Cast on and work first row with white, followed by brown. Don’t repeat, go straight to 2 rows pale blue, then 6 of main colour.
… end with 4 rows main colour, then join to cast on row with brown. This is a width of 7”, which feels right.
As the edging is added at the armhole edge, I will increase the extra inch.

Can’t believe this took me so long to finish! And the ends… Didn’t think about stitching all of them in!
Could have done with being a couple of inches longer but considering I have less than 50g left of all the colours combined (in little bits!), that wasn’t going to happen!!
I managed to work a single row of htr’s in the nice shade of blue around the bottom edge but there wasn’t anywhere near enough to even consider going round the sleeves. Luckily I liked the look of them without an edging!
Not overly happy with the neck shaping - my own fault for changing it rather than following the pattern! Ended up with ‘holes’ one side that I had to try and disguise…
Will need to wear it a few times and see how the shape holds up before deciding whether to make another.
Will definitely need more yarn though and might leave out the stripes so there are no ends!!
