UPDATE
I Hate the horrible mustard colour!! I’m starting again and switching to sandy brown instead of yellow for a beach theme!
I’m hoping to recreate my merino stripey blanket but this time in shades of blue and white with a pop of golden yellow.
I bought quite a bit of pale blue, denim, and off white, probably 3 - or 4! - years ago!
I still need to buy the yellow and haven’t quite decided which one, otherwise I’d start now!
I’m going for nine pattern repeats, that’s 216 sts! Then keep going till I run out of yarn. Or steam!

Ordered some Drops Merino samples from Purple Sheep Yarns, looking for a bit more of my lovely denim shade.
What they call denim is a bit darker and a solid colour. I’m going to use it but only a little. And for simplicity, I’ll use the golden yellow from Drops as well, rather than risk trying another brand.
I’ve calculated how many rows of each colour in a 25 row repeat, and I’ll keep back enough for a simple border.

Well I’m really not liking that grotty mustard yellow! I was hoping next to the blues it would look better. But it still looks dirty… I’ve only done 2 stripes of it but I think that might be enough!
Currently, I’m thinking of trying a sandy brown or fawn instead and going for a beach look.
Shame as I’m enjoying the actual crochet!

Definitely switching to brown! Yarn has been ordered and I really hope it will be a suitable shade…

48” wide and 36” long so far - and looking just perfect!!
I decided to add approx 1 row in 25 using Stylecraft Batik in biscuit, as it needed a second shade of brown.
I’m sure I would be able to find a suitable shade in pure merino if I searched hard enough!
I’m hoping I have enough yarn for another 12” and a narrow border.

Woo hoo!
I finished the main blanket last night! That’s just 4 weeks to make a 48 x 48 inch blanket!
I still need to finish stitching all the ends in before I can add a border though…
Although I’m pleased to say that my yarn calculations were spot on! I have half a ball of denim and camel that I’ll try and work into the border as well as the ball of pale blue and white that I had put aside.

On the home straight now - the border!
A row of pale blue half trebles, topped with denim trebles along the two sides to begin with.
Then a row of moss stitch in camel. White treble clusters, then pale blue trebles and finally, dark blue trebles.
I will have used ALL the yarn I had, plus the extra ball of dark blue I ordered in case I wanted it for the border.

FINISHED! And all the final ends stitched in too!
37 days from start to finish and that included a week of doing very little to it once I reached the side edges and borders.
Definitely a record!!
(Half a ball of white left but not much else!)
