Notes

Bought all the yarn in advance so I could get started on this amazing pattern as soon as possible. The correct size oval eyes seem hard to obtain, but I have some coming now. I hope they are okay!

Slow progress as the mohair makes my eyes sore and really makes me sneeze.

I adore Claire Garland’s patterns. So beautifully designed.

Found out from the designer on the #imadethisrabbit group on Facebook that the first lot of eyes I bought are a bit small, so I’ve ordered these now that she recommend herself (12mm x 9mm) https://buddlycrafts.com/gb/shop/product-35441/joy-crafts...

There are not enough expletives in ANY language to accurately show how much I despise working with fun fur!

18/10/19 Starting to look a bit squirrely now. The oval shaped eyes make all the difference.
18/10/19 - just the sewing together to do now. This may take some time though…

I want the tail to be pose-able, so I have used some 1.2mm gauge copper wire, rolled into a large, flat spiral at each end and covered in duct tape (so it doesn’t poke through) fed it through to the end of the tail and up to the head. I was very careful not to over-stuff it, so I would be able to pose it nicely.

I was also torn over carefully stitching vs using a small triangular plastic safety nose… My stitching always looks rubbish. After several squiffy attempts that made my squirrel look rather drunk, I went with the small triangular safety nose.
