This is my first experiment with “planned pooling” a handpainted yarn.

It took a few tries to get started. What I discovered was that my knit rows (with lace pattern) eat through yarn much faster than my purl rows. I’m using size 10 needles on the purl side, and size 9 on the knit side, and finally, on the fourth attempt, I see the colors stacking.

I wonder if I could size down a bit--perhaps size 7 and 8--if I add another pattern repeat, but at this point it took so long to get this far, I’m afraid to try to mess with my formula. This is fun--a real puzzle to sort outI

After getting the gauge issues sorted out, this was a really easy knit. Everything’s smooth up until the end--binding off the crocheted provisional cast-on…I’m really not sure how the written instructions are intended to be worked. I’m having some knit/crochet dyslexia, apparently…and I don’t see a good explanation in any pattern comments.

Made-up solution: remove provisional yarn, placing all stitches on working needle. Picot cast-off (knitted): cast-on 2, bind off 4. That’ll do…it’s not “right” but it looks ok.
