Please note: I highly recommend a cable needle, spare DPN, or safety-pin style stitch-marker for this unless you’re specifically comfortable with cabling twisted-knit stitches on a purl background. I usually don’t use a cable needle, but for this pattern, I definitely found it worth it.

2012/01/27 - finished the ribbing (twelve rows instead of nine) and knit to row seven of the body of the hat.

2012/01/29 - finished the bottom cabling, put in a safety line, and knit the nine rows of plain ribbing.

2012/02/07 - decided to repeat rows 26 to 31, since they seem to be actually repeated in the pattern picture, and I like the effect.

2012/02/12 - realized I’d crossed the cables the wrong way after six rows. Dropped them back and picked them up. Dropped them back and picked them up again to get it right. Knit to the end of row 37.

Realized that rows 26 to 31 possibly aren’t actually repeated in the pattern picture. Persevering anyway.

2012/02/13 - knit to row 50. (no picture)

2012/02/14 - finished, wove in top end, blocked! Need to weave in the bottom end, still, but whatever.

ETA: apparently I wove in the bottom end a while ago. Yay done!

2012/03/29 - okay, technically, I didn’t weave the bottom end in; I’d carried it up to count off the rows. Wove it in properly, officially done. ;)
