Completed the first panel and after 26 rows it measures 22” wide but only 9” tall (supposed to be 11”). I weighed the panel, anx it’s already 149g, which means 1 skein (250g) won’t be enough anyway, so I might just add on a few more rows so I can hit 11” tall. I’m estimating it will take 5 more rows to get there.

I ended up doing 29 rows, as I hadn’t figured in the border of sc which obviously adds to the height.

I didn’t like the way the J and Y were coming out, so I ended up using the Moogly alphabet pattern for the letters instead. I had to make modifications though to make the letters taller.

J:
I did about 26 rows of sc until it was about 6” tall, before continuing on with the pattern for the curve of the J (sc, hdc, dc rows).

Y:
I did 18 rows of sc before chaining 15 (instead of 10) to make the upper part of the Y.

Both letters are about 7.25” tall now.

I used an H hook and cotton worsted weight yarn for the letters.
