I always enjoy wearing something special at Christmas, but do not always like what is available in the shops - hence this creation.

One whole year in the making! although I did complete other projects when endless rounds of stocking stitch became to much!

Like Nadiad, whose dress I admire very much, I chose to halve the increases in the skirt - it’s still very full and cast off with a stretch lace cast off using 6 sparkly delica’s per stitch.

I used the beaded waist from Karen J Minotts Evening Tank and Louisa Hardings Oasis, for the top, just dropped needle size and knitted smaller size than normal, added thousands of delica’s into the pattern, which unfortunately do not show up very well in the pics, and then attached to the skirt, I found the waist of the skirt to be enormous and had to unpick the cast on edge and knit up a few rounds decreasing as I went until it was a good fit.

If I was ever to knit this again (highly unlikely !) I would stop knitting when the dress reached ankle height, I cast off my dress just before ground level and it was the perfect length, however it did grow quite significantly during the time that I wore it and will now require some sky scraper heels to prevent it from trailing the floor!
