12-02-2014 welcome to the world, Campbell Marie! born today 7:54am / 8lbs 5oz / 20”
casting on my third hemlock was like saying hi to an old friend…I love this pattern :)
our second goddaughter will arrive late autumn / early winter ~ 11-23-2014 :: finished in the nick (knick?) of time…gifts to be delivered tomorrow and the new baby will be here in a few days…whew :)
this is for her, a companion piece to go with the Shelter Shale Baby Blanket I’m making for Neoma Jane (her sister…our first goddaughter) to celebrate her second birthday coming up in September
this is my 3rd go-round with this lovely, easy pattern ~ I can’t wait to cast on again - here’s #1 - here’s #2 - this will be my first with Shelter (can’t wait!) and I’ll probably enjoy this one so much more since I found I was allergic to Cascade Ecowool when I made the first 2 (my first and only fiber allergy to date…thank goodness…it took the skin right off my fingers)
project notes ::
-
it was nice to use a yarn that didn’t make my skin blister…as always, I love Shelter (I mean really love!)
-
this pink colorway is a beautiful tweed with flecks of white and bright pink that stand out really well
-
my last row was 65 of the chart ~ perfect size for a lap throw or a babies blanket
-
if I had used the bind off recommended in the pattern, I would have needed to dip into a 6th skein but I chose to do a regular stretchy bind off (k1, k1, both back to left needle, k2togtbl, k1, both back to left needle, k2togtbl, repeat the k1, both back to left needle, k2togtbl til all stitches bound off)
