I think there’s a few mistakes in the pattern already.
I noticed after row 16 that I had a long stripe instead of two squares, so I threw the pattern into Stitch Maps to see if there were any pattern errors.

Starting on row 13 the K and P haven’t been flipped to make the basketweave squares. The pattern continues fine after that, only it doesn’t follow the pattern set at the beginning.

Row 23 has k4, p2 instead of k4, p4
There may be an error on row 75?

I think I’ll have to wing the pattern. It looks like the squares get longer further down the pattern;
4 rows / row 28 / 7 squares
5 rows / row 58 / 6 squares
6 rows / row 88 / 5 squares
7 rows / row 116 / 4 squares
8 rows / row 132 / 2 squares

Tried to chart the pattern but it’s a bit beyond my resources.
I’ll just have to track the columns of established basketweave with stitch markers and remember to increase the length of the squares at the rows I noted above.
Thankfully the pattern repeat is symmetrical, making the edge stitches easier to track.

Third ball of yarn joined 1/3 through row 53

Added forth and final ball of yarn 1/4 through row 65.
Decided not to add any more yarn due to the weight of the shawl.

The third ball of yarn had a knot about 2m before the end that I did not add to the shawl. I might use it as shawl decoration later.

Finished!

Bound off using Icelandic Bind Off on ws, after row 73.
Total of 29g yarn spare in two pieces.

I’ll need to steam block it into shape soon.

Blocked!

I had trouble getting the top edge to be straight. I think the yarn is a bit too bulky to cooperate. I did fix up the massive bump at the neck though.
