I’ve only been knitting a little each day but it’s growing so quickly!
The only problem I’ve had so far is with the yarn. There was a knot between the cream and brown colour, so now they annoyingly don’t fade together.
Ah well, it is a mill end after all.

I had to put this project on hold so I could complete a MKAL.
I did, in the meanwhile, buy a yarn to use as the border so I don’t have to judge my remaining yarn too much.

I ran out of yarn for the MKAL on the 21st of May, so I restarted knitting this shawl a few days later.
Today I’m up to the borderline part just before the frill!
I’m going to knit the borderline twice to try and use up the teeny bit of yarn I have left so I can knit the frill in the second yarn I had purchased for it.
Once this shawl is finished I’ll be buying myself a knitting book as a reward!

Disaster! I ended up with a problem on the first row of the frill T^T
I had accidentally knitted past the center stitch. When I undid my work, the pattern repeat ended two stitches past the center.
I’ve undone the entire row so I can do some maths and tinkering to fix my stitch count.
I think I may have ended on an unlucky pattern repeat number as I can’t find any mistakes in my previous rows D:
I’m writing my tinkering below, partially for my own reference.
401 stitches total, 14 pattern repeats
From center stitch, half of row is 11 repeats +13 stitches
Need to +4sts on each side
Ended lace pattern on row 8 (row 4 ws)
Frill stitch pattern is 17+1 stitches first row; third row is 18+1 stitches
Main pattern is 14sts rep
There is another project that mentions following the repeat to the center, then balancing out the second half, so I might try doing that. I might also add a yo between the k2tog and ssk so the frill repeat lines up.
Hopefully being tired hasn’t caused any mistakes… D:

I decided to follow the frill pattern as it’s written.
I also changed my needle size to 6mm after the 6th row.
On the 7th row of the frill, just before the center stitches that will be knit together, there was only 1 stitch spare for the k2tog I was up to. I decided to knit it, and I think I will do the same to any other spare stitches like it.

Finished
I still need to weave in the ends and block it, but it’s done. I used up most of the yarn too!
Now that I’ve completed the frill, I really think there is a mistake with row 1. The eyelets are misaligned badly closer to the center and make the start of the frill look very odd. Thankfully knitting so much of the pattern forces the wave-shape to match row 3 of the frill.
If I knit this shawl again, I would start the frill with row 3, but change the center stitch with the yo, k1, yo from row 1.
Otherwise, this was really fun to knit!
It’s also my first full-sized shawl~!
