My first paid MKAL!
Although I did get it for the just released cost of $US1.
Since I’m wisely starting this project after finishing a bunch of others I had in progress, I had the choice of the completed pattern or the clues.
I’ve chosen to use the clues to help break up the pattern into easier pieces.
I was hoping for this to be my new pretty with clear beads and some nice mystery green-purple yarn, but I’m now hoping to gift this to my neighbour if I finish it in time before she or I move away.

Finished clue 1!
This yarn really likes to do it’s own striping thing

I’m trying two little tricks with this shawl.
The first is following the advice on this site to make all of the yarn overs matching small yarn overs.
The second is using the alternative kfb from this site to avoid the traditional kfb bump.

Finished clue 4!
The final clue looks like it’ll take a while…

Finished!
I decided to end after row 110 since I was running out of good beads. Just need to wash and block the shawl before I can gift it.
I bound off using a 5.5mm needle.

Blocked!
Just need to finish weaving in the ends and it’s ready to go.
I had to steam block it twice.
First time was completely flat, but the edge was noticeably uneven when folded.
Second time was with the shawl folded in half and the points came out much better. I was also able to stretch out the stitches around the leaves much better too.
My favourite part is how lovely the mesh next to the leaves has turned out. I’ll definitely try to use that stitch in the future!
I believe my total time to knit this was around 1 month. I had delays in the final clue due to stress and illness.

I don’t remember exactly when, but I eventually asked my mother to gift this shawl to our downstairs neighbour as I was unable to. I was told that she loved the colours and didn’t want to take the shawl off after mum helped her wear it.
It was very lucky timing as a week later her family had to help her move away. She was looking quite poorly when mum visited her, so I hope this shawl offers her great comfort and peace.
It’s not a flawless shawl, but I consider it one of the best items I have knitted so far. I’m glad I could give my work to someone who showed such a nice reaction to it.
