Notes

With smaller needle, CO 64, k1, P1 for 5 rounds.

Switched to larger needle, white yarn, and began moss stitch. At third round, increased one stitch at beginning to eliminate any visible seam.

Continued in moss stitch until piece was 6” from CO edge.

The moss stitch created a slanting pattern and is very textural. So simple, yet looks fancy.

The moss stitch is a tad looser around the head, maybe because of the extra stitch or because of the stretchiness of the pattern. The hat is still snug enough, but instead of increasing a stitch, next time, I will decrease by one stitch - 63 stitches on needle.
