Notes

Knitting a swatch first. (5.25spi and 7rpi on US5)

Made the baby hat based on my own swatch/calculations and then “winged” the drumsticks, because not having the pattern with me when I need it is how I roll.

I made the drumsticks detachable so the baby will have toys later. I got some miniature gumball machine bubbles, put a bead inside, glued them shut, and stuffed them inside the chicken legs. I attached them using a double strand of worsted weight, and just tied it in a bow inside the hat so they could be removed easily.

It took me so long because the baby I was making this for was hospitalized at 2 weeks of age with meningitis and they didn’t know if he was going to live. When he made it through and was thriving, then I started knitting it again. Sent it to the family in time for Thanksgiving.
