Notes

I get so many requests for socks from the men in my family—some of them with such very large feet—that it’s hard to find time to knit for them all. One of my little tricks for getting them done in a hurry is to use fingering-weight yarn held double on larger needles for a speedy knit. My sock recipe’s time-saving construction, plus its stretchy ribbed pattern, give these socks an easy fit—and makes these socks one of my favorites for gift giving. With this pattern every stocking on the mantel can be filled with a pair of hand-knit socks in no time!

This pattern can be knit with one color of yarn held double or with two contrasting colors held together. When knit with contrasting, hand-painted colors the result is reminiscent of tweed. If you chose one bright and one dark or neutral color you can play with a fun color while staying grounded enough for the most masculine of men.

Foot and leg length adjustable to fit.
